Story

Getting on to the story line of the film, Ramachandra (Sachin Khedekar) is a genetic scientist and he is hell bent on putting his research into practice. Unfortunately the government refuses to accept his proposal. Only before his wife, a victim of his research, delivers conjoined twins with only one heart. The two kids grow up while their father nurtures a baby food company and launches a baby drink, 'Energion,' which becomes a phenomenal success inviting the wrath of many.

In the mean time, the two kids with one heart Akhilan and Vimalan (both enacted by Suriya) are contrast in their nature skills and interests. Akhilan is humorous, energetic and fast while Vimalan is intelligent, calm and decision maker. Slowly the love triangle emerges as Anjali (Kajal Aggarwal) walks into their life. Both the guys fall for the gorgeous damsel, but she gets attracted to Vimalan. Then the action unfolds with a Russian intervention who reveals that the success of Energion is misused by opponents by adulterating the drink with a life threatening steroid, which will start giving side effects after few years.

Just at that time Vimalan dies in a freak accident, and the heart goes to Akhilan. Through Kajol, Akhilan also comes to know about the adulteration. The duo alight a journey to Russia to put an end to the misuse.
Will they succeed? Can Akhilan do the best like his dead bro? How will Kajol overcome her grief of losing a lover? How will the duo retain the brand equity of Energion? How will they save the Gen next by removing the adulteration? A million more questions but there is just one answer just watch the film for the rest.

Analysis :

Maattrraan-review
Surya shows distinct differences between both the characters in looks, dressing and behavior. And he excels in acting under as visioned by the director. Especially Surya's make over as Akhilan with traits of Vimalan creeping up post his death, are absorbing. Kajol tags on well. Vivek is good in his comedy. Isha Sherwani cameo provided the necessary twist in the film which moved at a rapid pace, only after her entry. This film will be a milestone for the entire crew.
Technical values in the special facial scanning led by VFX Supervisor V. Srinivas Mohan is awesome and path breaking to the Indian Panorama. Harris Jayaraj grooved well into the slot of the film by rendering different genre songs for the moods of both the characters. 'Yaaro Yaaro' by Thamarai sung by Karthik & Priya Himesh is one that is sure ring in your heart once out of the ambiance.

Performance :

Maattrraan-review
Surya is the most dependable star who could be banked on to carry on the mission till the last frame. He once again vouches the fact. Surya vs Surya is well enacted aided by technology and wonderful cinematography. The plot is thick packed with powerful narration. Songs are well placed and pleasant. Action takes charge after the first 45 mts of the film. Prior to that, it is just introduction and development of the love triangle, that takes center stage. Surya as Akhilan excels when confronted with the death of his body double. And the ways he tries to lure Kajol amidst the thick of happenings is also quite interesting. French star Reda Oumouzone has done his best as a suave hulk in the negative role.

In a nutshell:
Surya as conjoined twins portrays the best and he can expect to hog limelight at the awards at all levels. Fans are sure to repeatedly visit this film which is a double delight. Maattrraan shall be a landmark to Surya and falls in the not-to-miss genre.

Final Word: Maattrraan Review Action, Action and entertainment, ideal movie for the weekends.

Srikanth's come back film as an solo entertainer is worth watching. Director Mohammed Aslam does a fairly decent job on his debut assignment. Janani Iyer fits the bill, while the hero's cycle takes the center stage. The film released all across the state on Friday is slowly picking up. Paagan Review

Story

With a sole aim to turn rich, over night, fun-loving trio Subramani (Srikanth), Velliyangiri (Soori) and Makali (Pandi) search venues. Their aim is to earn fast hassle free money with out much efforts. After a few futile attempts they devise a plan to amass huge wealth by Subramani trying to lure Janani. The girl is the daughter of a very rich man, Srikanth feels that as romance blooms all his worries will get evaporated. However the deal is not as easy as thought and the hero is on a roller-coaster ride while trying his best to attract her, is the rest of the film.

Analysis :

Mugamoodi review The story is a thin thread and so is the narration that lacks pace. But the team make up for the mishaps as the screen play is well set to be hilarious. The cycle angle will not go well with logic thinkers but it is pure fun that needs to be thought about. The voice of the cycle was another disadvantage to this family entertainer. Janani had a party time on the screen with exquisite modern wear and stylish hair styles.

Performance :

Mugamoodi review Srikanth and Janani do a neat job while Soori and Pandi tickle your bone well. Janani looked different in her new avatar and she will impress the youth much with her makeshift image. Kovai Sarala was as usual loud, making one miss out on the melody of comedy. A Venkatesh was his usual self for a brief moment and adds to the fun. The scenes in the climax when the two friends read out the pages of the heroin's diary to the hero are truly hilarious. A film worth watching with family, rare in these days.
Final Word: Paagan is hilarious, could have been handled better, family entertainer.
